I grew up LOVING Disney princesses as much as the next very-most-especially girly girl growing up. I took a class my last semester of school taught by a borderline/not-so-borderline feminist professor and read a book that talked about how bad the princess stories are for girls. I didn’t really buy the arguments, but meh.
Anyway, photographer Dina Goldstein has an exhibit in the works (scheduled for October of this year) I recently saw a preview for called Fallen Princesses–in essence, it’s a sometimes gritty look at what could have happened to the princesses if prince charming hadn’t swept them off their feet or they hadn’t lived happily ever after.
I still love swooning over happy endings, but the exhibit looks like it will be really interesting. Get a sneak peek here.
