It’s been a crazy week for me, and I’d guess it has been for most of you, too. For that reason, let’s just get right to it, shall we? The pictures have nothing to do with the random tidbits, just to keep with the random theme.
1. I’ve had a few sweet readers ask about Sophie’s health lately. Sophie is off all her reflux medications, and her only intolerance is if I eat eggs. Trace amounts in cookies, etc., don’t seem to bother her, just eating whole eggs. When her reflux originally surfaced and in the heat of my elimination/allergen-free diet, I sometimes felt like there was no light at the end of the tunnel. We’ve been so blessed that she’s approaching 8 months old and has come SO very far from the days of inclining her mattress, keeping her elevated after eating, giving medications 2-3 times per day, and avoiding dairy, soy, wheat, eggs, nuts, fish, spicy foods, chocolate, onions, garlic, citrus, and tomatoes. What a blessing!

2. Speaking of Sophie…I’m wondering if other mom’s have any ideas for entertaining someone who can’t crawl, walk, or speak? I’d love some more ideas! We go on walks every day, I sing and talk to her all the time, we read stories, and play with her toys. I can just tell she gets bored, big time. She’s THIS CLOSE to crawling, so I know she’ll be into everything soon enough. Any ones have any favorite toys for this age or favorite games? I’d love your suggestions.

3. I can’t believe we’re getting so very close to Christmas! I love this time of year and feel like it’s just flying by. I’ve really been enjoying listening to “Sleigh Ride” by She & Him and “Christmas Waltz” by Harry Connick, Jr. this year. I also continue to love the song “Toy Packaging” by Sara Groves. Look them up. You won’t be sorry.

4. I’ve been thinking a lot about New Year’s Resolutions. I’m doing something different this year that I think will be more meaningful. More on that to come.
5. It’s awkward dance videos like this that really make me laugh. This one had Sophie laughing out loud. I love it.
Happy Friday!

I just had to say I love your Five Fact Friday posts! My daughter is 4.5 months so I can’t help you with ideas….but are there any specific toys that your daughter liked around this age?? Thanks
Melissa–Thanks! A few of Sophie’s favorites were a set of stacking cups from Target, these bath toys (we treated them like regular toys), and she likes this little Freddy Firefly by Lamaze . Other than that, she loved lids and empty containers (still does!). Hope that helps!
Thanks! I have the Freddy toy (which she loves!) but I just bought some stacking cups on Amazon. I’m a stay-at-home-mom too so I feel ya about constantly trying to keep our little ones entertained.
so glad that her reflux is doing better! she is just so cute and you can tell in all of the pictures that she’s a sweet, happy baby. i don’t have much help with the entertaining babies part, although when i have babysat i always like to have music on to sing and dance to. do you have any of those wooden puzzles where the pieces have little handles on them? i know she’s too young to do them, but it might be fun for you to do them with her on your lap. melissa & doug (?) have some really great ones. bubbles are fun, and since you guys have pretty warm weather i bet you can do those all year round. what else? those toys where the blocks are on plastic curvy rods and you can push them up and down are fun for little ones. hope that helps. oh, and the picture where she’s in the bumbo, eating? those two pictures don’t look like the same baby! it’s interesting what a camera angle does.
That last sleeping photo is to die for. What a darling she is!
What a Beautiful girl! I LOVE Fridays!
Maybe it’s just time for twirling cartwheels, jumping through hoola hoops, and standing on your head for entertainment…? Oh, right, you are already doing all of that! Keep on swimming…keep on swimming…
give her a sibling….she’ll be constantly entertained!!!
all i have to do is set barrett in his exersauce in sight of his sisters playing and he’s usually quite content. oh and i have to have a plethora of toys on hand too.
Hmm…I so remember that! When they are aaaalmost mobile. At this stage I started letting Jack raid the kitchen cupboards and he thought it was fascinating. Straws, measuring spoons, tupperware, plastic cups, etc. Kept him entertained for hours. Also, does she have any music she likes? We had a few cd’s that were big hits with Jack and I would put them on if he was getting antsy and he would be happy. (He liked Baby Einstein cd’s, and Jack Johnson, and Brad Paisley haha.) And I also I definitely vote for a jumper/exersaucer. Also Jack was really into this http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=2341&e=product&pcat=bubrilliant&pid=56708 even WAY before he was standing up. I would just sit him in front of it and he was in baby heaven. Good luck! Hey I think I get to see you at Christmas…right?
Yeah, Hannah’s bored with all her baby toys too. But now that she’s crawling she thinks she can touch everything, so it’s a constant game of reminding her what’s for her and what’s not for her. Since we put up our decorations, we learned quickly that prevention is better than intervention, so the whole bottom row of our tree has no ornaments! It looks pretty funny.
It seems like babies just like random things that aren’t really toys like a whisk or small bottles of anything. A while ago we used all the medicine in the bottle. So I took off the wrapper, put some rice in it, and superglued the lid for safety. She loves gnawing on it and she loves that it makes noise when she shakes it. Same would work with hard beans and an empty water bottle too. Does Sophie like taking out/putting things into empty containers? Just safe little trinkets from around the house seem to entertain Hannah for a while (“while” meaning 5 or 10 mins).
Hey Emily I’m glad to hear that Sophie is off her med, Our little boy had the same thing and was on different meds for awhile. We also had to thicken his milk other wise he would aspirate. We have just been able to take him off the meds. and has now had juice for the first time. Glad to here your little one is doing so well.
