I was THRILLED to see today that a new incarnation of one of my favorite online shops is back. It’s Blobby Farm! The site originally ran from 2003-2006, when owners Chris and Maria decided to take a break for a bit to move and welcome their adorable son to their family. They’re back in business and ready to roll, just in time for the gift-giving season!
Blobbies are hard to explain (It’s easier just to show you), but the closest it comes for me is to call them fun and funky stuffed animals. They originate partly from Chris’s doodles during meetings and partly from Maria’s amazing sewing skills.
What I love about these is that Maria hand-makes every blobby you see on the site. While they’re being referred to as “art objects” rather than toys (they haven’t undergone big-business government safety testing for toys), these make fantastic gifts and toys for kids and not-kids alike. There aren’t any removable/choke-on-able parts, they’re soft and cuddly, and (for the most part) machine washable. I have a few from the old shop and LOVE them.
Check it out and see what you think! If nothing else, have a laugh and enjoy the creativity.
