2. Sophie started dancing again this week. She was beyond delighted to start a class. It’s always just a little scary for me to send her off like this in a new situation. Sometimes new teachers or other parents have ideas about the kinds of children they’d like to have in their class. We push those boundaries a bit, and it almost always goes well. But there’s always a bit of a lump in my throat when I send her off into the world.
4. Age is such a good thing. Last year, Milo would not go near the water. Sophie wasn’t super safe either. This year, there’s some freedom! And, as long as he’s got trucks nearby, Milo is happy to stay near the stairs and play.
5. This summer is good deep down in its bones, so far. We’re not doing anything grand–no big trips, no big adventures, but that’s actually what’s making it great. We have fewer therapy hours, so there’s time for other things. Homemade ice cream, smoothie popsicles, frozen lemonade, and lots and lots of hours at the pool. Parks, and stacks of library books, and blanket picnics on the living room floor. Precisely what summer is meant to be.
