Sophie’s been “getting ready” with me in the mornings. She loves to pull up a chair or stool next to the bathroom counter and goes through her own little routine while I finish my hair and makeup. She puts on deodorant (an empty travel size one), brushes her teeth (for real, yay!), and combs or brushes her hair. Sophie does best when it’s mostly quiet. So do I. So, together, we enjoy this this little (mostly silent) girl talk moment in the mornings.
When we do talk, Sophie’s happy to chat about things that are important to her. For weeks, she’s been telling everyone (from strangers on the street, to family, to our beloved grocery cashier) that “iss almost October!” which she follows up by sharing everything she has plans for this month: going to the pumpkin patch, visiting the zoo, Halloween in her “nightgown” (ball gown), and getting to wear real life makeup (for her costume).
Since it’s not quiiiiite time to do those things yet, I’ve been holding off on telling her the news that it’s officially October. I think she’s getting suspicious, though, since I changed the calendar. Pray for me.
3. Let’s skip October. Milo, on the other hand, is just read for the rest of the holidays. After spotting a few Christmas trees while getting some groceries this week, Milo sighed and said dreamily (with twinkly stars in his eyes), “Iss Christmas at Costco!” Ah…nope.
Milo and I have this exchange about 10 times a day:
Milo: “Guess what?”
Milo: “I love you.”
Slays me dead every last time, folks. Every. Last. Time. It started the other way around. We’d be playing and I’d say “Guess what? I love you!” I’ve never been so happy to have him pick something up from me.
With all the talk of Octobers and Decembers and what’s coming in the future, I can’t help planning and dreaming for the blog. I asked on Facebook this week and had some great suggestions. What do you want to see more of in the next year? What have you liked? What have you disliked? What would be fun or helpful?
Thank you for all you do to make this a happy corner of the internet. I could not love this little blog any more than I do!
Happy Weekend, dear reader!
Wishing you every good thing!
(p.s. that gorgeous peach painting was a birthday card my AMAZINGLY talented friend Brittany made me. Seriously, girl’s got skeels.)
