1. On Tuesday the kids wanted a little treat after dinner. I pulled out a few little cookies–one for Sophie, one for Milo, and one for Michael (who wasn’t home yet). After eating her cookie, Sophie walked over to where Michael’s was waiting for him on the counter. I reminded her that that cookie was for Daddy. A few minutes later, Michael walked in from school. Sophie leapt from the couch, ran over to the counter and said “Daddy taste cookie?” to which Michael said “sure, Soph.” He took a bite, then Sophie said “Can I have taste?” Again “sure, Soph.” Well, she finished that baby off in one gigantic bite. Note to self: be wary when Sophie wants a “taste.” On the plus side, she was most polite about it.
2. Milo loves a good round of hide and seek. “Go hide” is one of his favorite games, and he plays almost daily with me or Michael. He’s really quite good when he plays with Michael. With me, he just hasn’t quite figured out that he’s a little less conspicuous when he doesn’t hide with a squeaky-wheeled baby stroller. It’s hilarious to be counting and hearing that squeaky wheel and those tiny feet moving full speed to a hiding spot.
3. Sometimes I think Michael would be a better stay-at-home parent than I am. He can make a game out of anything. Michael tried a few things this week that have fallen COMPLETELY FLAT for me in the past, only to have them be super fun for him. He’s just got that daddy magic, I guess.
5. These little markers are magic. (No one at Crayola cares who I am, but I just have to share them). Milo still prefers to throw/run through/dance on/eat crayons, but it’s completely changed our coloring. Sophie loves that they help her color in the lines, I love that they can’t color on the carpet/walls/clothes while I’m changing a diaper or something.
HAPPY WEEKEND, dear reader. I hope that it’s been a great week for everyone. Hope no one else is sick. I’m wishing you every good thing, friends!
p.s. I had a “pinch-me” moment this week. Melissa Hartwig (co-author of It Starts With Food and founder of the Whole30 program) wrote ME to ask if she could include one of my recipes in the next Whole30 newsletter, out around Sept 16. Sign up to get the newsletter here.
