Maybe I love it. Kinda really a lot.
2. Sometimes less endearing, Milo has picked up heavy sighing. Usually with a soft moan attached. (Like the little brother in A Christmas Story…. ” meatloaf, double beetloaf, I hate meatloaf.”) It usually happens when he gets called out doing something he’s not supposed to be doing. Or when all the snacks are gone. Or at bedtime. Or days that end with ‘y’.
3. Speaking of bedtime, oy to the vey about bedtime with this guy. He’s to the point where if he naps, he’s up for an hour (or two!) at night, but if he doesn’t at least rest, he’s a basket case. When Sophie got to this point, she transitioned pretty well to quiet time. To this day, I put her in bed with a stack of books and leave her in her room for about an hour of quiet time.
I’ve been trying to do the same thing with Milo. I put him in bed with a pile of special books and two unbreakable cars. And then he either throws a humongous fit for an hour and is even grumpier (so am I), or he falls asleep and I have to wake him up, which makes him mad and means we face the resisting sleep at night dilemma. I’m hoping he’s just not in the groove yet, but if anyone has a magic trick to share, I’m all ears. Whiny as it may sound, that hour is SO important to my sanity and energy. All magical tips welcome.
4. Sophie Temple. Sophie heard (and instantly learned) Shirley Temple’s “Animal Crackers in My Soup” song this week. It. Is. Perfect. They both have serious dimples and round cheeks, and adorable personalities. She’s been trying to do the dance moves and the conducting bit and the “oh my goodness”, which cracks me up. Maybe she’ll be Shirley this year for Halloween? (We’ll have to start working on the curly hair…)
5. Happy Love Weekend! Sophie’s got a party today at school. I get to volunteer, and I just can’t WAIT to see her with her classmates. Every single day since the decorations went up (like, February 2), she’s exclaimed happily (ISS BAL-A-TIMES DAY!). I think she’s not going to believe me that it really IS Valentine’s Day this weekend. Other than that, we’re staying in on Saturday and having a little chocolate tasting. I can’t wait!
