I started writing this post on Tuesday and completely scrapped it Thursday. Why? Well Wednesday afternoon, I was working on some dinner prep and got splattered with boiling sauce that covered my face and wrist resulting in 1st and 2nd degree burns. The worst of the burns are right in the center of my face and are so bad I’m spending this morning at a plastic surgeon to discuss scarring and burn healing.
I wish I were joking, and also that my burn story sounded cooler than the Michael Scott “I’m sorry you cooked your foot” episode of The Office.
It was kind of the tomato sauce icing on the ridiculous cake that is life lately. With everything that’s been going on with Sophie (doing a tiny bit better the last few days), our car battery giving up the ghost on Saturday (swiftly fixed), a five day fever for me (that finally ended Tuesday), and then this burn situation, it’s been kind of a doozy of a few weeks/months! (Did I mention it’s my birthday next week?)
So, I don’t have a full-fledged Five Fact Friday, but I did want to just pop in to say I’m grateful for kind souls who have stepped in to help, for family sending love and prayers far away, for competent and kind medical professionals, for kettle corn (I can’t really open my mouth to eat much), and for Michael Scott, whose fictional foot injury can help me laugh through me more or less cooking my face.
Better luck next week, I hope!
Happy weekend, dear reader!
Wishing you every good (tomato sauce free) thing!
