it snowed.

December 13, 2009 by Emily Leave a Comment

So last Sunday marked the beginning of the snow season. Sigh. The good news is that we have beautiful paper snowflakes in our window. And also Christmas is close. Here’s how the first few days of snow went for us…

Day 1: Sunday
Aw, cute! It looks like Christmas outside! Michael and I share a romantic walk to church, complete with swooning. The roads are completely clear by the afternoon. Dry as a bone. Safety abounds.

Day 2: Monday
Several more inches of snow. It seems no one has ever plowed. Ever. In the history of the world. I have a white-knuckle drive to and from work. The drive takes nearly double the usual time. That night, Michael and I watch White Christmas and bake ginger cookies to console me.

Day 3: Tuesday
It snowed all day and night yesterday. Plowing has still not been done sufficiently. My drive is snowy, foggy, hard, and very slick. I hate this. White-knuckling turns into elbow cramps. I make it safely to the town I work in only to skid into a snowbank in our unplowed parking lot while avoiding being hit by a truck that lost control behind me. I had no camera with me, so I didn’t get pictures, but suffice it to say that 3 co-workers and 15 minutes later, my car emerged from the snowbank and I was able to skid into a parking place. I consider moving to Australia.

Tis the Season!
