Friends, it was one of those weeks last week. Poor Sophie was very, very sick. As in almost had to go to the hospital for tests sick. We had several very long days in a row, and I found myself really struggling in the evenings. After tucking Sophie into bed and putting the house to sleep, there were more than a few nights where I just poured my heart out to Michael. Feelings of sadness, being overwhelmed, and struggling with insecurity and inadequacy were an all-too common part of the conversation.
Inspired by my friend Lydia, starting this week, I’m going to be keeping track of the things I’m really, truly grateful for in preparation for Thanksgiving. I think the exercise will help me to keep things lighter, see silver linings where I might otherwise miss them, and to appreciate how incredibly blessed I am day to day.
I’ll probably use our Five Fact Fridays for the next few weeks to talk about what I’ve come up with, but I wanted to share in case you’d like to try the experiment too.
Thankfulness = Happiness!
p.s. If you’re feeling any of what I’m feeling, Galatians 6: 9-10 have been especially comforting for me:
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
