Gather Your Ingredients

So what makes this berry orange fruit salad taste so good? FRESH ingredients that complement each other and don’t compete! Let’s take a look:

Ingredients for orange berry fruit salad
  • Clementines or Mandarins. While you can certainly supreme regular oranges, I prefer the ease of using clementines or mandarin oranges. I usually use fresh ones (like Cuties or Halos), since they’ll have better flavor than canned mandarin oranges.
  • Fresh Strawberries. Then, you’ll need plenty of ripe strawberries! These tend to be less expensive than other berries, so we use more of them. It’s a great way to add color & flavor while saving a little money!
  • Fresh Blueberries. Look for firm, ripe berries!
  • Fresh Blackberries. They look gorgeous here! If you’re not a fan of the texture, you can swap them out. Use more strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries instead!
  • Maybe Fresh Raspberries. If your raspberries aren’t too soft, they add great color & flavor to this berry orange salad!
  • Fresh Orange Juice. For the orange honey dressing, freshly squeeze orange juice or best-quality store-bought juice will give you the best flavor. You don’t need much!
  • Honey or Agave. We’re just adding a little sweetness to highlight all the sweetness of the fresh fruit!
  • Optional Extras: Then, you can choose if you want to add any extra flavor. You can choose 1/4-1/2 teaspoon poppy seeds, a few drops of vanilla extract, or some fresh mint. I did fresh mint for the pictures, but I’ve used each of these with good results!

  3. Drizzle The Dressing over the fruit salad and gently stir so you don’t crush the berries.
  4. Serve & Store. Enjoy or store in the fridge until you’re ready to serve. The fruit is delicate and will start to soften right away, so we recommend eating this within 1-2 hours of making, for best results. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge 1-2 days.

FAQ + Tips And Tricks For The Best Berry Orange Fruit Salad

Serving Suggestions To Try. This Orange berry fruit salad is gorgeous in a big serving bowl as a side dish at dinner, but you can also pair it with yogurt & granola at breakfast, or serve it with dollops of whipped cream for a healthy dessert!

Prep Ahead Tips. Fruit salad will have the best texture within 1-2 hours of making it, but you CAN get ahead by washing and prepping some of the fruit, and the dressing. I use this technique for washing berries to make them last longer for my strawberries & blueberries. Then, you can mix up the dressing (stored separately!) and you can prep and segment the oranges ahead of time, then. I just need to wash the black berries and raspberries right before serving!

Even More Variations To Try. Feel free to use my honey lime fruit salad dressing instead of the orange dressing here. Or, try adding orange zest or even fresh basil leaves instead of fresh mint! (It sounds weird, I know, but once you’ve tried my strawberry basil lemonade, you’ll get the hype!)
