Made with simple ingredients like watermelon, strawberries, and lime, these Strawberry Watermelon Popsicles are full of fresh flavor, easy to make, and a perfect way to cool down on hot summer days. You don’t even need any sugar (or honey or syrup!) to make them! (Talk about the perfect healthy treat!)
This simple recipe starts with simple ingredients, so grab your popsicle mold and some popsicle sticks and let’s get started!

3 Simple Ingredients To Start
This refreshing popsicle recipe starts with just 3 INGREDIENTS and no added sugar, dyes, or artificial flavors. We find the natural sugar and sweetness of the fresh fruits does its job without any need for extra sugar. Let’s take a look:
- FRESH WATERMELON. Seedless watermelon (or seeded watermelon) is the base for this watermelon popsicle recipe. This is a great way to use up a less-than-amazing watermelon or to help you finish a huge watermelon!
- FRESH OR FROZEN STRAWBERRIES. Next up is some fresh strawberries or frozen strawberries. They add sweetness, and substance to this popsicle recipe and add such pretty color!
- LIME ZEST & FRESH LIME JUICE. Then, you’ll use the zest and juice of a lime. The combination of watermelon and lime with the strawberries just can’t be beat! Make sure you only use the green zest, not the white pith (which is bitter)!
Tips For Choosing A Good Watermelon
I’ve heard LOTS of tips over the years, but the ones that work best for me are:
- KNOCK ON THE WATERMELON. A more hollow sound often means it’s juicier)
- A YELLOW SUNSPOT. The yellow spot (sunspot) is the place where the watermelon has been sitting on the ground. Yellow (instead of white or green) typically means the watermelon is more ripe.
- FEEL HOW HEAVY IT IS. A ripe watermelon will feel heavy for its size (heavier often means juicier). Juicy watermelon makes the best watermelon popsicles!

How To Make These Easy Watermelon Popsicles, Step By Step
If you can operate a blender, you can make these delicious popsicles! As always, you can find the full recipe with ingredient amounts, detailed instructions and tips in the printable recipe card below!
- Combine. Add watermelon, strawberries, lime zest, and lime juice to a blender.
- Puree until completely smooth. Taste and adjust the flavor here, adding more lime or a touch of sweetener, as desired.
- Freeze The Popsicles. Pour the blended watermelon mixture into popsicle molds, cover with a lid (or foil) and insert wooden popsicle sticks. Freeze popsicles 3-4 hours, or until very solid.
- Serve & Store. Enjoy these easy homemade popsicles straight from the freezer and store frozen popsicles in an airtight freezer-safe bag for up to 2 weeks.
What If I Don’t Have A Popsicle Mold?
If you don’t have a popsicle mold or can’t get one (I get it!), you can still make these fruity popsicles! Here’s how to make a popsicle in a small paper cups instead:
- Set out 3 oz. paper cups (they work best) or small plastic/melamine cups.
- Fill the cups Pour the popsicle mixture into the cups (you’ll need to adjust a bit for size), leaving a bit of room for the popsicles to expand in the freezer.
- Cover the cups with foil and insert a popsicle stick. (The foil keeps the sticks in place)
- Place cups on a cutting board, tray, or plate for stability and freeze as directed. (Remember that your popsicles may take longer to freeze depending on how wide & deep your cups are.)
- When they’re frozen, remove the foil and peel away the paper cup! (Or run the outside of a plastic cup under cold water for a few seconds to loosen and wiggle the stick side to side to remove it from the cup.)

FAQ + Tips & Tricks For The Best Strawberry Watermelon Popsicles
TIPS FOR GETTING YOUR POPSICLES OUT OF THE POPSICLE MOLD. First, make sure your strawberry watermelon popsicles have had at least 2-3 hours (preferably 3) to freeze so they’re totally solid. Then, gently run the outside of the popsicle mold under cold water for a few seconds, which will help loosen the popsicles. Hold one stick and gently move it horizontally side to side while running the mold under the cool water and it should slide out much more easily!
OUR FAVORITE POPSICLE MOLD. We’ve been using this popsicle mold for over a decade and love it more than any other we’ve tried. It has 10 slots, sturdy construction (so it stays upright better in the freezer!) and has a lid to hold the sticks in place. It also comes in silicone versions, but I find these can sometimes hold onto scents and flavors.
CHANGE IT UP! Feel free to substitute fresh lemon juice & lemon zest for the lime, add some fresh mint leaves, swap the strawberries for peaches, blueberries, or raspberries!
HOW TO STORE LEFTOVER POPSICLES. I usually remove mine from the popsicle mold and put them in an airtight freezer safe bag, so that my mold is free to make plenty of other frozen treats. They’ll keep this way at least 2-3 weeks in the freezer, up to a month. Otherwise, keep them in the popsicle mold with the lid on nice and tight and finish the popsicles within a week.

These taste like summer. Best popsicles ever!!
I love how easy and yummy this recipe is. So easy to make with my kids, and I am happy to know what my kids are eating! A new summer family favorite!
I’m SO GLAD you loved them Samantha! They’re my kids’ all time favorite summer treat!
Trying to stay off of sugar for the month of June and this totally suppresses my sweet tooth. I added half a jalapeño(I love a little kick)to your recipe. Super delicious!
YUM! That sounds delicious!
These are so delicious! I just made them and put them in the molds. Had a little left over so drank the mix….yum! I love the taste of lime and watermelon, nothing is brighter and fresher. Can’t wait to eat them later when its 115 degrees. Yikes!
Can I use lemon instead of lime ?
Yep! You’ll just have a slightly different flavor. Still yummy!
These are delicious. I didn’t add the lime zest, just the juice of 1 lime, and they are great. I can’t wait to try the Strawberry Lemonade ones next.
I’m so glad you loved them! They’re our VERY favorite. Thank you so much for leaving a review–it helps so much!
Oh, my, god!
The flavor combo makes my mouth water. I was looking for a Popsicle recipe without any artificial flavoring so thanks.
Is this recipe for 6 popsicles?
Idaly – It’ll totally depend on the size popsicle mold you’re using. I can get 10 popsicles out of this recipe with my mold.
These are a staple in our house every summer, the kids love them! The lime just brings up the flavor a notch and blends so well.
Vanessa – I LOVE hearing that! We just made a batch this weekend, and it felt like summer was officially here! 🙂
I so wanna the strawberry and watermelon Popsicle.. now… I just love the combination…. My lil one is 4… and we having a lil baby days for him this weekend… gonna make these yummy popsicles for the lil guys. Thankyou for sharing !!!
I hope they all love them! My kids love them.
Easy and yummy!
Yay! So glad you loved them! We can’t get enough!
What is the minimum age of baby to enjoy these pops??can my four months old teething baby suck on it??
Sakeena – It would totally be between you and your pediatrician. I wouldn’t recommend giving these to a 4 month old unless they’ve already been introduced to each food individually (i.e. can they tolerate watermelon, strawberries, and lime on their own?). You might try freezing bananas–like these but without the chocolate topping. My kids loved those when they were teething and they’re really gentle and easy to digest!
Do you include the watermelon seeds and all? My watermelon has the tiny yellowish seeds…
Yep! I toss them all in. Black seeds won’t blend well, but the yellow/white ones are A-ok!
Where do you get those popscicle molds?
They’re linked in the “Notes on the Recipe” section as “popsicle mold” (Just scroll up a bit from the recipe). Or, they’re also linked in the body of the recipe card. 🙂
Oops I mean throw off!
Hi. I forgot to buy limes for the recipe but have lemons. Would lemon juice be an ok substitute or would it through off the flavor?
It’d be delicious with lemon! It’ll be like a strawberry-watermelon lemonade!
These turned out great. I happened to have pears falling off my tree so I blended those with the watermelon. Yummy!!
Wow! I bet that would be an awesome combination!
My kids can’t have strawberries, any other recommendations?
Sure! If other berries are okay, blueberries or raspberries are perfect! If berries won’t work, you can use peaches instead 🙂
Can someone please help me understand what “cubed watermelon” Is, thankyou💛
Alena – It’s when you’ve cut up the watermelon into cubes. The shape isn’t so much important, just gives you an idea of how much watermelon we’re talking about 🙂
Thank you!
Such a delicious and refreshing treat, and the flavours are so beautifully balanced. I love it and my kids love it. Any treat that doesn’t require sugar is a winner! I omitted the lime zest just incase the kids found it too lime-y. Thank you for sharing
I’m so glad you enjoyed them Mary! I make a batch almost every week during the summer!
I made this today. All i can taste is the lime, i wonder where i went wrong.
Cathy – Oh, nuts! Do you know how big your lime was? Usually I can taste the lime, but the strawberry and watermelon are also really coming through. If you used the lime zest this time, you may want to skip it next time… Lime juice will wake up the other flavors without dominating them. I hope that helps!
Just found and tried this recipe recently and it was amazing! One of my all-time favorite frozen treats now.
How long will they keep in the freezer? I would like to make a nice big batch so I can go into my freezer and take one whenever I want without having to prep, but I don’t know if there is a recommended time period to keep them or not.
Thanks!
Oh, I’m SO, SO glad to hear it! I feel like I always have a batch in my freezer in the summer! They’ll store for up to 2-3 months if you’ve got them in a zip-top freezer bag. I’ve tried putting them in food storage containers (Tupperware), but they seem to get a little more stuck together. After a while, they just start to get ice crystals on the outside and taste a bit freezer-y. You’ll know when they’re past their peak! 🙂
I only have 3 moulds. If I make the recipe, can I freeze the remainder, thaw and re-freeze as they get eaten?
Nik – I’ve never tried making them that way, but I do think you might lose a little bit in texture. You can drink the rest as a smoothie, which I’ve done, or you can halve the recipe for a smaller batch, or use paper cups and popsicle sticks. I hope that helps!
Melon and strawberries is a great combination. Love this summer treat!
These look so delicious! I love watermelon and strawberry paired together!
