The Small Business Holiday Gift Guide – Shop small and support small businesses this holiday season with ideas for everyone on your list!

Collage of products from small businesses with text overlay that reads "Our Favorite Small Businesses Gift Guide for the Holidays"

Hooray for the first gift guide of the season! I plan to post several over the next few weeks to help with holiday shopping, and I’m really excited about today’s guide: The Small Businesses Holiday Gift Guide!

This has been a YEAR (to say the least), so small businesses need our help and support more than ever. I LOVE being able to put my money toward helping a family or team who has put together a business they are passionate about. You tend to get more unique items that often come with small extra touches, like personalized packaging, little charms or extras tossed in, etc., which only adds to the special feeling.

So, without further ado, here are some of our favorite small businesses to support this holiday season. (None of these is paid or sponsored in any way.)

Emily Dixon from One Lovely Life with her husband

STORYWORTH.

Storyworth has been one of our favorite gifts to give the grown-ups in our lives this year. My siblings and I gifted a subscription to my parents for Mother’s Day & Father’s Day this year and it’s been SO FUN to get weekly stories from my parents. You can choose from suggested questions or make up your own, and your parent submits their story each week like an email. At the end of the subscription, all their stories are put together in a book! This is a great gift for parents, grandparents, or in-laws!

Raddish Kids Ticket to Tokyo Cooking Kit

RADDISH KIDS COOKING SUBSCRIPTION.

We LOVE Raddish Kids. You can a full in-depth review of our experience here, but in a nutshell, it’s a monthly cooking subscription for kids. Each month, you’ll get 3 recipes that go with a theme (which can be seasonal, multicultural, etc.), a fun bonus craft or activity, a collectible patch, and a full-size cooking utensil. Each recipe teaches your child new cooking skills that can easily be adapted based on their age. They even have accommodations for common allergies and dietary restrictions!

We LOVE having a subscription–it makes such a fun gift!

(FUN FACT: I often take photos for them to use on their site. Milo + Sophie do almost all of the hand modeling you’ll see and they regularly pop up in Raddish’s ads!)

Not sure you want a whole subscription? You can buy single kits (from previous months) to see what you think first!

A piece of gluten free focaccia dipped into olive oil and herbs

QUEEN CREEK OLIVE MILL.

The nicest family in the world owns the Queen Creek Olive Mill. (THE NICEST!) I’ve been to the olive grove and into the room where they bottle the oil, and it’s a fine-tuned process that’s crafted with care and quality in mind. Their award-winning balanced oil is my everyday favorite, but they also sell flavored olive oils and vinegars that can enhance all kinds of dishes. Bottles make an excellent hostess or in-law gift! OLIVE + JUNE.

Olive + June is my go-to for all things nail-related. They have quality nail polishes (crafted without many of the harshest chemicals/additives), plus nail tools that can help you get the perfect at-home manicure or pedicure.

I often wear the color CV in my recipe videos and love their sets for fun pedicures. Their 7-free topcoat is especially amazing, too. I feel like it really protects my manicures and makes them last longer (which is great given how much I do with my hands!).

FLEKK COSMETICS

I met Linsey (celebrity makeup artist and creator of Flekk Cosmetics) at an event a few years ago and she was as nice as could be. When she launched her makeup line, I knew I had to try it and I was not disappointed!

Her Flekk eyeshadow palettes are basically the paint-by-numbers of eyeshadow–perfect for beginners and makeup pros, alike! I love that there aren’t really colors I don’t use, and her brush set makes it easy to apply. I wear the fine palette and use her brush set daily, even if I don’t do full eyeshadow. (The palette + brush set is the best bargain!)

Not sure which colors to buy? You can use their quiz or even email in a photo and they’ll give you a personalized consult fo’ free!

Safe + Fair Honeycrisp Apple Pie Granola on a white background

SAFE + FAIR.

I love that Safe + Fair was started by two dads of kids with food allergies. They never skimp on flavor, and their popcorns and granola are our favorite. I recommend the Honeycrisp Apple Pie Granola and ALL the flavored popcorn.

Some fun flavors of drizzled popcorn can be a great gift with movie tickets or a movie rental gift card or paired with a nice card or gift card for neighbors or teachers.

Little girl twirling in an Alice and Ames ballet dress.

ALICE + AMES.

The twirliest dresses you’re likely to find. Alice and Ames is owned by a really nice family who creates fun, twirl-able dresses your daughter will fall in love with. We used these for years and most were still in great enough shape to pass down to cousins!

BEDDYS.

Beddys is another great mom-owned company! Their company makes our favorite bedding for kids–we have some in Milo’s room and Sophie’s room. It’s made to be easy enough for 2- and 3-year-olds to make their bed on their own and pretty much always looks neat and tidy. It’s amazing for bunk beds, campers + RVs too!

BRAVERY MAGAZINE.

I absolutely LOVE Bravery Magazine, and I’ve shared about them a ton over the years. This quarterly magazine features amazing heroes from history and incorporates their life story into the magazines along with crafts, games, projects, recipes, STEM ideas, gorgeous art, fun challenges, and more. Both kids LOVE getting new issues in the mail. Sign up for a subscription or order copies of previous issues here.

(PS – Subscriptions also come with a digital download with PDF copies of any craft/project pages so multiple kids can work on them!)

If you’re looking for other great kids’ magazines, you might like Mighty Kind Kids, Honest History, or Ditto Magazines. Each one features a diverse group of stories and activities that we’ve loved!

Little boy wearing red trafalgar boots from London Littles

LONDON LITTLES

If you’ve got a little adventurer or puddle jumper in your life, London Littles makes adorable book-inspired boots for kids. Milo’s worn through a pair after some long miles and loved them so much we ordered another.

RAISING WONDER.

Sarah Jane (author/illustrator of the Lola Dutch books) started doing daily activities for kids as part of her Raising Wonder business back in March and she’s expanded those crafts and learning activities into courses, packets, and books. We’ve LOVED her coloring pages and Nature Camp, and her Creative Core is a great option for supplementing at-home learning and finding new ways to explore and create at home. Shop all her offerings here.

Animal Sensory Bin from One Lovely Life

(pictured above is our own sensory kit, this is just to represent the idea!)

YOUNG, WILD & FRIEDMAN.

Young Wild & Friedman SAVED our days at the beginning of our months’ long stay-at-home journey. Her play-dough kits and sensory bins are AMAZING and kept my kids busy for hours and hours. We repurposed many of the manipulatives for other sensory kits, too. So fun! We had a lot of fun with the mini-kit 4-packs, but her full-size kits are really fun too! If you’re really in love, she also has a monthly subscription!
